What Is Gypsum Mould Work?

Gypsum mould work is the craft of creating decorative three-dimensional elements from gypsum plaster. The material is poured into precisely crafted moulds, allowed to set, then removed and finished. The resulting pieces are lightweight, dimensionally stable, and capable of capturing incredibly fine detail.

These decorative elements are then fixed to walls and ceilings using specialist adhesives and mechanical fixings, creating the appearance of intricately carved solid plasterwork — but at a fraction of the cost and installation time of traditional wet plastering.

Step 1: Consultation & Selection

Discuss your project with our specialists. If you are considering custom work, bring your sketches, photos, or simply your ideas.

Step 2: Design & Mould Creation

For custom elements, our design team translates your brief into detailed technical drawings. Once approved, our mould-makers craft the physical mould. This is skilled, patient work — the mould determines the sharpness and accuracy of every casting that follows.

Step 3: Casting & Curing

High-purity gypsum plaster is mixed to our exacting formula and poured into the moulds. After setting, each piece is carefully removed, trimmed, and placed in our controlled curing area. Quality checks are performed at this stage. Any piece with the slightest imperfection is rejected and recycled.

Step 4: Delivery & Installation

Your finished mouldings are carefully packed and transported to site. Our installation team prepares the wall and ceiling surfaces, sets out precise positions, and fixes each element using specialist adhesives and mechanical fixings. Joints between pieces are filled and sanded to invisibility. The installed mouldings are primed, ready for final painting by our decorative paint team.

We conduct a detailed inspection under raking light to ensure every joint is seamless, every corner is sharp, and every detail matches the approved design. We walk through the finished installation with you, ensuring your complete satisfaction.
